Last week's Japanese software champ, the brand-new Wii Party, had its first place
festivities cut short this week after a strong showing from two other games, both on Nintendo's platform.Media Create

Nintendo DS remake Fire Emblem: Shin Monshou no Nazo Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu reigns supreme this week, with Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Victory, an arcade to Wii port, coming in second. The sales figures may make it look like a tie, but according to sales tracker Media Create, the Fire Emblem re-release outsold everything else.

Konami's latest baseball game, Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2010, and Capcom's new RPG Last Ranker also managed to crack the top ten. You can see for yourself by checking the full top 30 bestselling games below.

There's not been an awful lot of activity in the Japanese Hardware Chart (12th - 18th July 2010, courtesy Media Create) this week, with the only change being the PSP 3000 taking the lead over the DSi LL in the handheld chart.

This is despite the scorching popularity of the latest Fire Emblem game on Nintendo DS...
In fact, all of Nintendo's platforms have seen a drop in sales compared to last week's numbers, while Sony's consoles have all seen a boost. While the PSP benefited the most, the PS3 also had a brief sales lift, inching it closer the the Wii's sales numbers. The Xbox 360 also experienced a slight boost in sales, as did the beleaguered PSP Go.

  1. PSP      26,786
  2. DSi LL     25,884
  3. Wii     22,239
  4. PS3     19,473
  5. DSi     16,318
  6. Xbox 360     5,936
  7. DS Lite     4,895
  8. PS2     1,507
  9. PSP go     1,155

No doubt Last Ranker and Konami's new baseball game helped turn the PSP's fortunes around, but can it last? The Nintendo DS is slowing momentum after a platform price cut, and the company is no doubt hoping that the boost its handheld family experienced isn't as short term as it seems. Either way, this seems to be the summer for new releases, so next week could see the charts turned around some more.
