Last week's Japanese software champ, the brand-new Wii Party, had its first place
festivities cut short this week after a strong showing from two other games, both on Nintendo's platform.
Nintendo DS remake Fire Emblem: Shin Monshou no Nazo Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu reigns supreme this week, with Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Victory, an arcade to Wii port, coming in second. The sales figures may make it look like a tie, but according to sales tracker Media Create, the Fire Emblem re-release outsold everything else. Konami's latest baseball game, Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2010, and Capcom's new RPG Last Ranker also managed to crack the top ten. You can see for yourself by checking the full top 30 bestselling games below.

The people who make Professor Layton games and the sharp-looking Studio Ghibli game Ni no Kuni have another hit on their hands, the latest sports-themed RPG, Inazuma Eleven 3: Sekai e no Chousen!!, Japan's bestselling game. Both versions of Inazuma Eleven 3: Sekai e no Chousen!! for the Nintendo DS toppled last week's champ, the Xbox 360 game Monster Hunter Frontier. That previously bestselling Capcom game slips way down to 14th place on this week's chart, illustrating the staying power of Xbox 360 games. Japan would appear to prefer games like the latest taiko drumming game Taiko no Tatsujin DS: Dororon! Youkai Daikessen!! and fighting game Blazblue: Continuum Shift, two chart topping new debuts. A smattering of other new debuts appear throughout this week's Media Create sales chart. Do your eyes and brain a favor and see what they are. Software Chart

Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy 2 has debuted at number 1 on the Japanese Software Chart. Mario’s new intergalactic adventure is one of the most anticipated titles among Wii gamers for this year so it’s hardly
surprising that the latest Media Create figures show that it sold a whopping 340,000 copies for the week ending the 30th of May. Bear in mind that the game launched across Japan on the 27th of May so these sales account for only three days. You may be interested to learn that Super Mario Galaxy 2 performed better in its opening week than the original which sold 250 585 copies in its opening week, but not quite matching the New Super Mario Bros. Wii numbers.. It was a week filled with new debuts, like Cave's new Death Smiles IIX, Alan Wake and a slew of Japanese games that appeal strictly to Japanese tastes. Last week's champ, Lost Planet 2, managed to stay in the top ten, as did Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which could be a million-seller in Japan, given a few more months. For the top thirty bestselling games in Japan for the week of May 24 to 30, read on, following the page break.

Rangers Lead the Way! [Japanese Sales, Mar 14, 2010]
Just like last week, Nintendo's latest Pokemon spin-off, Pokemon Ranger: Hikari no Kiseki for the Nintendo DS, tops Japan's weekly software chart, fending off a long list of newcomers, including Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

(The Xbox 360 version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 scored a spot at 14.) Other new bestsellers on the Media Create chart include Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida Or 3D, part of the Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! series, now known as What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord? in English speaking areas of the world. And way down near the bottom of the list? Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the PSP, which debuted slightly better in its DS incarnation late last year.
