2008-04-17 - Super Smash Bros. Brawl boosted Wii sales to abnormal heights last month, according to official console ware bean counter, the NPD Group.
As far as hardware numbers go, Nintendo sold 720,000 Wiis last month; more than double that of combined Xbox 360 and PS3 sales, and almost enough to match the combined sales of all other consoles when including PS2.
"Across hardware, software, and accessories, the Wii contributed the most to total industry sales, representing 31% of total industry dollars for the month," said NPD analyst Anita Frazier.
Japanese Weekly Charts for March 24-30, 2008
Submitted by PPNSteve on Sat, 04/05/2008 - 19:54.This week saw a massive sell-through of the second most popular monster fighting game in Japan (after Pokemon) with Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G taking last week's top spot.

This shows that the defection of Monster Hunter 3 (currently in production) from PlayStation 3 to Wii, could turn out to be an important strategic move for Nintendo.
This week also saw Brawl finally hit the 1.5 million sales that North America managed in a fraction of the time. Charts and more after the break...

Updated January Sales Stats for USA and Japan
Submitted by PPNSteve on Fri, 02/15/2008 - 19:54.After a spectacular November and December in the USA, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare sees a respectable January, securing the number one position on the software charts. 2007's number two seller, Wii Play, keeps its second place spot, beating out both Rock Band and Guitar Hero III with 298K copies sold.
Despite being a relatively down month for the Wii and Xbox 360 on the hardware side, the two consoles hold the top seven on the software side. Again, no PlayStation 2 info, but we're not sure if that's based on sales or just missing data. The top ten is after this.

Japanese Sales Week Ending Dec 23
Submitted by PPNSteve on Thu, 12/27/2007 - 18:10.According to Kotaku, last week's Mario Party DS sales were no fluke. While the 180,000 copies it sold for the week ending December 16 were it's previous best, in the week ending December 23 it set a new record. 330,000. For a DS game released in early November, those are good, good numbers.
Wii Fit continues to sell well, moving another 214,000 units on the way past three quarters of a million sold, while Final Fantasy IV on DS (sadly) reinforced Square's rehash policy by selling 288,000 copies. As for Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, which last week debuted at #3, well...it's a little lower this week.
- Mario Party DS (DS)- 330,000 / 1,156,000
